Medical Secretary

The practice is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual, with good grammar and spelling, to complete our administration / secretarial team. Although the ideal applicant will have previous GP or Hospital secretarial experience this is not essential as full training will be provided for the right applicant.

The main purpose of this position is to provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for GPs and Health Professionals, as required.


•To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for the practice.

•To ensure all referrals are processed efficiently and effectively.

•To make appointments, as required.

•To establish and maintain accurate filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure.

•To ensure that invoices are issued for all completed reports and that both the issue of invoices and payments received are recorded.

•To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with queries.

•To maintain the computer clinical system in an accurate and secure manner.

•To liaise with the office manager.

•To provide cover for other members of the secretarial team during periods of sickness and annual leave.
