Food Product Assessor

Are you interested in being a food product assessor?

We have part-time opportunities for food product sensory assessors at the NoWFOOD Centre, Chester.

If you have an interest in food and would like to learn a new skill this could be just the job for you.

You will be required to assess a range of food and drink products, so it is important that you have no dietary restrictions such as food intolerance or allergies and are open to tasting a wide variety of foods and food supplements.

Your hours of work would be as and when required up to a maximum of 3 hours per day on a casual basis (Monday to Friday). Timings are to be decided but ideally you will be flexible in the hours you are able to work each day e.g. morning and afternoon.

Responsibilities and Duties

The role will require you to work both on your own and as part of a team (the sensory panel).

You will often be required to record your answers to product tests directly onto a computer. (Experience of using a computer or mobile device would be an advantage although full training will be given).

Qualifications and Skills

Ideally, you will have an interest in food and drink products.

No experience of sensory analysis is necessary as full training will be provided.

Good sensory skills (e.g. sense of taste / smell) are very important for this role and will be tested during an initial screening session.

You must feel comfortable working as part of a panel and be able to communicate well with others in the group.

You must not have any dietary restrictions e.g. vegetarian

You must not have any food intolerances / allergies e.g. nut allergy, coeliac)
